Congratulations to Yann Frizenschaf who plays his 150th game this weekend!

It’s hardly an exaggeration to claim that Yann Frizenschaf has come to embody everything that is good about the Unley Rangers.

He has worked tirelessly and without complaint to develop himself as a footballer, and a leader both on and off the pitch, cementing himself firmly into our 1’s squad and performing consistently at the very highest level.

Yann’s commitment, at training and every time he pulls on a Rangers kit is to be admired, and is reflected by him being held in the very highest regard by all of those who have been lucky enough to play alongside him.

The last twelve months, it cannot have been easy. With a serious knee injury last year and then a broken toe only a few weeks ago haven’t been enough to stop the affectionately labelled ‘Fritz n Sauce’ chalking up his 150th this weekend, so let’s get around him – and show some love to an absolute role model, a gentlemen, a scholar and a damn good footballer.

Congratulations Yann Frizenschaf in joining an illustrious group of men who have played 150 games for the mighty Rangers.

Yann is a footballer you want alongside you on the pitch and a bloke you want on the quiz table.

Some would compare Yann to the feat of German car engineering – he has an unparalleled reputation for perfection, constantly striving to improve and is not content to rest on the laurels of achievements.

Yann is part of a surge of players that have come through the Ranger youth system at Unley High School. A member of the Class of 2006, he has never looked back since gearing up in the double blues.

Over the years, Yann has risen through the Ranger ranks. His persistence eventually paid off when he was selected in the Div. 1 side for the first time last year. Since then, he has capped 14 appearances for the first team before succumbing to injury.

Highlights during his stellar career at the Rangers includes.

  • Three Div. 1B Premierships (2008, 2010 & 2011)
  • Seven Goals and
  • A Div. 3 Best & Fairest (2013)

Despite his ever-growing physique, Yann has always been a calm presence on the field. Probably one of the most disciplined and hardworking blokes at the Club. He rarely misses a training session and if he is injured, he is always on the sideline supporting his fellow Rangers.

I have been lucky enough to play alongside Yann in the early days, and lately, I have had the pleasure of watching him progress over the years into a fine footballer and a true leader at the Club.

All the best this weekend mate.
