Jason (Langey, Langers, Boxhead, Lang) Lange, the nicknames he gets every season he dislikes continue, what also continues is his attendance at trainings, on match days, at events and all the hours in between.

Jase and I first became friends (and housemates) through the Rangers many seasons ago. At the time he was part of an inaugural Div 6 side with the Unley Rangers at the very largest the club has been. During those early stages he was coaching, captaining and playing football more than casually for the first time in his life, he was 27.

Jase has since gone on to play in every grade at the Rangers and in the last couple seasons been part of new look Div 1 sides as we move past what has been a difficult period for the club on field and off it. There are a few people during my time that have embodied the Rangers spirit; the ability to not place a ceiling on opportunity or development, to rock up to training whether results are good or bad, to play through injury, to be a volunteer and help out when required and to care about the direction of the club. Jase is one of those people.

He’s been involved in kit designs, future plans whether they are about pitch quality, grounds, lighting, fundraising or simply just helping myself and other sweep, tidy up, refill drink bottles or pumping up balls.
Jase would never tell you this, he’s a humble and thoughtful person, but he’d gladly have a passionate conversation about any of the above topics and many more relating to the Rangers.

He’s grown into a confident and assured footballer, a club man and volunteer, an ‘outside the box’ voice for young players and for myself as his mate, and someone who has earned every one of these 150 appearances through hard work, perseverance and problem solving.

He’s one of my very closest friends and a shared love of this wonderful place has helped keep us and many others close. Treat the Rangers like Jase does and you’ll appreciate and love the place that much more.

Good luck on your 150th mate. I know you’ll treat it as any other match and give everything you’ve got. You’re a legend, love ya!

Go Rangers!
