Ranger #: 364
Club Debut: 2014
Words by Roshan Wilson.
Emlyn was introduced to the Rangers by his brother Bryn in 2014. The quiet achiever has played across five different grades, never complains and always puts in 100 % effort. He is part of an elite group to score on debut (not an own goal btw).
Over the years, the Rangers have produced some of the best defenders in the league. We’ve also been fortunate enough to have great leaders. You don’t have to be the loudest (far from it) or have the most caps to be Captain. Just heart and soul.
Our Reserves is the most successful side in Club history. This season is mixed with youth, talent and (thanks to Emlyn) heart and soul.
It’s one of the reasons he was chosen to be Captain of the Reserves. Cool, calm and collected. I’ve never seen him get angry or lay a questionable tackle in frustration – ever.
When asked Luke ‘Guardiola’ Hylton about Emlyn, he described him as a ‘…rough diamond, and over the past two seasons, he has seen him pull our players together.’
Emlyn plays mainly in the backline. He takes on the burden of every conceded goal, regardless if he was part of the play or not, dusts off, and picks up the pieces and players around him. Quality. Exactly want you need when tough calls are being made during big games.
As a result of his leadership on the field, the Reserves are in prime position to taste more glory – sitting second on the ladder and certain to play finals football.
Regardless of the outcome of this season. The Club is proud to have you here, and as our Captain.
Congratulations on the 100 games and hopefully the lads can continue the magic in your honour.
